Keto Shrimp

Keto Shrimp : Super Shrimp Keto, Paleo and done in 15 Minutes!

Keto Shrimp!

Seafood is definitely low carb and keto. It is Keto Shrimp depending on how you prepare it. Last week, I returned home from my epic family road trip from North Dakota to California and the Oregon and Washington coast.  While traveling for two and a half weeks I ate so much local seafood. I had  Dungeneous Crab, Shrimp and Prawns. 10 years go my wife and I lived and worked in San Francisco. I worked right on the fisherman’s warf and  I really took the fresh seafood for granted. I could’t cook much then but I would go get a Dungenous Crab right of a vendor every once in a while and devour it on my lunch break. It was amazing!

When I returned home, I was grocery shopping with my 8 year old daughter and she saw a bag of pre-cooked shrimp on sale. My Daughter begged me to get the shrimp. “Mommy I love my shrimpies please can we get shrimpies?” she asked. Of course, we came home with a two pound bag of “shrimpies” that day and I got to cooking us some Keto Shrimp.

Pre Cooked Shrimp

Keto Shrimp can be made in 15 minutes if you use precooked shrimp. For this reason, I perfer the precooked shrimp. I crank out a quick weeknight meal that my family will love and be nourished by when I use pre-cooked shrimp. Also, its super easy.

Frozen vs Fresh

In the United States it is difficult to get fresh seafood that is actually fresh. I live in the middle of America, North Dakota. If you are lucky and live on the coast then you can get fresh seafood however I do not have that luxury. Most seafood is imported to the United States from different countries. It is better to purchase frozen seafood because unless you live on the coast, the “fresh seafood” is probably just frozen seafood that the supermarket has thawed out. For this reason I purchase frozen seafood when I am at home. (source)

Brown that Butter!

The key to any shrimp recipe in my opinion is butter. When you brown butter it caramelizes and creates such a delicious coating for shrimp. This recipe will work with olive oil instead of the butter but trust me, your going to want the butter. Since we are making Super Shrimp today don’t skimp on the butter.

Side Dishes

I paired my Super Shrimp with a simple Coleslaw and leftover steak. Shrimp and other seafood dishes go great with a fresh Coleslaw or Cauliflower rice. My Coleslaw recipe is ideal for this meal because it is also very fast and easy to make.
