Low Carb keto paleo bagels: a review of The Great Low Carb Bread Company
Last week The Great Low Carb Bread Company sent me some samples to try in exchange for an honest review of their products. I was sent cinnamon bagels, pea protein pasta and onion bread. This is a review of their delicious cinnamon bagels.
The Great Low Carb Bread Company makes their goods without using preservatives, dairy or sugar. The insert found inside the box instructed me to store the bagels directly in the freezer. My package had been sitting in the post office through the weekend and the bagels were thawed by the time I got to them. Because I haven’t had a real bagel in 3 years or so I tore into one as soon as the package was opened.
My 8 year old daughter and I split a bagel right away. The texture of the bagels reminded me of those bagels you buy in the refrigerated section of the grocery store. Lightly chewy, soft and substantial. The bagels were delicious with nothing at all on them.
A few days later, I decided to thaw a bagel out in the microwave. 30 seconds in the microwave and the bagel was perfectly thawed. My toaster is lost somewhere as I haven’t used it in years since quitting bread. After splitting the bagel with a bread knife, I toasted the bagel halves in my cast iron skillet. While the bagel was toasting I smashed some butter flavored coconut oil in a dish and added a bit of salt. Dairy and me do not mix well. I have found that dairy is a trigger for my rheumatoid arthritis. I love butter flavored coconut oil because with a bit of salt it tastes just like real butter!
Once the bagels were toasted to my liking I spread the coconut oil on the bagel and sprinkled a bit of salt on the top. The end result was a delicious real bagel that was only 2 carbohydrates!
