Keto Moscow Mule
Who say’s you can’t drink alcohol every now and again while maintaining a keto diet? Not me. I have quickly made the Keto Moscow Mule my go to weekend alcoholic treat.
Calories
One important thing to remember when eating a keto diet is alcohol contains a lot of calories. a shot of vodka or 1.5 oz is about 97 calories. If you are tracking your calories then you need to count the calories found in the alcohol.
Keto and Alcohol: So basically…
When you alcohol or other alcoholic drinks your body sees the Keto Moscow Mule as toxic. Your body will break the alcohol down immediately. It will stop burning fat until the alcohol has cleared your system.
It is for that treason why alcohol will not kick you out of ketosis but put your ketosis on pause rather. When you drink alcohol, your body is going to start breaking it down immediately because your body sees it as toxic.
Low Carbs = lightweight!
Another important thing to remember when drinking alcohol on a keto diet is how you are now a lightweight. Remember when you have not consumed a lot of sugar in the day it will take a lot less alcohol to get you drunk or buzzed.
Financially this is amazing but beware of accidentally making an ass out of yourself at the company Christmas party.
Hangovers
When you are eating low carb diet and you drink a Keto Moscow Mule you need to follow up with water. You will get a hangover that will rival the one you got after your 21st birthday if you don’t. Trust me on the water, it is your best friend.
Turmeric supplements can also be your friend. I have found that if I take a Turmeric supplement before I go to sleep the hangover is pretty much non existent. Turmeric aids in faster removal of toxins. Remember Keto Moscow Mule, alcohol, its toxic. For more on Turmeric for hangovers check this out.
Non-Alcoholic Drinks:
If you are underage or just would prefer something without a hit of alcohol try these non-alcoholic drinks out. Purple Drink Rocket Fuel has consistently been the most popular post on my blog since the day I published it. For the morning after try a Turmeric Latte.

I really enjoyed this exact drink. I had formerly enjoyed it with Bundaberg Ginger Beer and they were amazing but WAAAAYY to many carbs. (40g per bottle) on top of the carbs in the Tito’s. With Pepsico distributing for them now, I recently found Bundaberg DIET Ginger Beer at a local grocery store and now use it and eliminated the Cider Vinegar. This is not an endorsement for anything other than the tastiest lower carb Moscow Mule I can get haha
Thanks for the diet ginger beer recommendation I will be on the lookout for sure, Cheers!
Do you use ginger beer INSTEAD of ACV? I don’t see where you added it to the drink ;(
I use them together – I will
Have to re wrote the instructions I apologize. Basically mix everything together with ice and your good to go.
Why the vinegar? And can you use Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar?
It added a mice bite to the drink. I also think it detoxes you a bit. Yes use bragsg if you got it 🙂
