The Best Low Carb Protein Powders
I have tried many low carb protein powders. Some of them I like and some of them have a bunch of carbs and do not work for me. For this Keto Strawberry Shortcake Mug Cake I used Isopure Vanilla Flavor. You can use any protein powder for this recipe and change the flavor of the cake. I used Kiss my Keto Birthday Cake protein powder making my Birthday Cake Mug Cake and it turned out amazing. (Use coupon code OMGKETO10 to save 10% off storewide).

Can this be made without the protein powder?
No, this recipe hinges on the protein powder.
I swapped in 3tbsp of almond flour for the protein powder(since I had no protein powder on hand) and doubled the vanilla extract. Followed the rest of the directions as is, did microwave for the extra 30 seconds with my microwave. Sliced and split between 2 adults and one 3 year old to make mini strawberry shortcakes for dessert after dinner and it worked out perfect. Had no issues using almond flour instead of protein powder.
That’s amazing! Thank you so much for commenting back with the modifications!
